Life has always had a specialty in being cruel. Whether it was to make Kaden's life a living hell, or make his enemies live in luxury as they watch his suffer.
Life was unfair, he learnt that years ago.
But God, sometimes he wonders what kind of sin has he commited to be condemned by the universe like this.
"Ian Wilson huh," The teacher looks up from her checkboard, looking over her classroom. If Kaden had never prayed, this was the first time he ever will.
Please not with me.
"Hmm.." The teacher was teasing him at this point!
After what seemed like a while, she cleared her throat before pointing over to a certain seat which was VERY near Kaden. "You can go ahead and sit next to Kaden over there," The teacher's voice drags with a monotonous hum as if she did not just chokeslam Kaden's heart.
Almost immediately after she announced the new student's seat, everyone twisted their necks towards Kaden—who is currently restraining his face from expressing any emotions that could reveal his true feelings.
Great, it's just what he needed after this bad morning. It was already bad enough that he had been lectured by the disciplne committee about his tardiness—now he has to sit next to an ex.
To be honest, Kaden had never expected to see this man's face ever again. Ever since he moved to that elite school over town, his name has became a quiet story amongst students who reminisced over time.
But of course, these students would never talk about him without dragging Kaden into it;
"Weyh Kaden do you still remember Ian? I forgot y'all were dating before," People would ask, and Kaden is so tired of answering! He almost opted for acting like he had went through amnesia once because of how often he gets these questions.
So what if they were dating? It was just a stupid relationship built over flimsy confessions.
...Well to be exact, it was Kaden's confession. The student clearly regrets his poor life decisions, always wondering why was his IQ lacking.
But whatever, the past it the past—now he has bigger fish to fry. Ian directs his smile from the teacher to Kaden, already swinging his bag over his shoulder before approaching the student.
"Its nice to meet you," The boy smiled at him as he dragged took his seat. Kaden couldn't help but be enamoured by how much Ian had matured over the years, he had grown taller, sharper—has it really been 2 years?
"Nice to meet you too," Kaden replies, watching him take his seat. He waited until Ian settles down before lowering his tone to a whisper. "Soo, why did you move to this school? You always talk shit about this place, but here you are." Kaden eyes down Ian's face, watching his eyebrows furrow.
That was a weird expression but he shook it off. "You only dreamt of going to St. Lucian, I wonder why you wouldn't go there," A chuckle slips from his lips. "well, after watching your obnoxious behaviour over the years, I shouldn't even be surprised either way."
Kaden snickers. "They don't take assholes."
That felt good. Kaden sighed mentally—finally how long has he held on to those years of frustration? But now that the real deal is here, he can finally vent for free. What's Ian going to do? Sue him?
Though somthing felt off after his little outburst. Ian was quiet, almost way too quiet than the usual boy he knew. Usually Kaden would be dream for something like this, but he never really thought about how he would feel when it actually feels.
The silence dragged for a few minutes before Ian cleared his throat. "Excuse me, but do I know you?" Kaden almost flinched when he heard how upset the boy was.
"W..what?" He stammered, looking at Ian as if he had two heads.
Ian only seemed unimpressed, annoyance deeply engraved onto his face. "Make sure to brush your teeth before insulting someone, it stinks."
The boy then proceeded to plug in his earphones, ignoring the dumbstruck Kaden beside him. The boy immediately closed his mouth, being self-conscious of himself.
"Holy shit..." Kaden swallowed, there is no way that's Ian.
