Timmy finally told me everything.
Seven years earlier, Callum had discovered that someone was stealing money from his father's company.
He confronted Timmy.
They argued.
Then Callum disappeared.
“I thought you hurt him,” I whispered.
“I didn't.”
“Then why hide this?”
“Because Mom made me promise.”
My blood ran cold.
“Promise what?”
“Never tell anyone she was involved.”
The room went silent.
Suddenly, the front door opened.
Odette walked inside.
“You finally told her.”
Timmy stood.
“Mom, it's over.”
She laughed.
“You think you're protecting Stephanie?”
She turned toward me.
“You're the reason Callum disappeared.”
My knees weakened.
“That isn't possible.”
Odette pulled out one final document.
It contained my signature.
I stared at it in disbelief.
Timmy looked from the paper to me.
“Stephanie…”
I shook my head.
“I've never signed that.”
Then Odette smiled.
