Sunday evening. Riya was lying on the sofa, scrolling through Instagram, when her husband, Arjun, walked into the room.
“Baby, do you love me?” he asked.
“Of course.”
“How much?”
She held up her phone. “More than my phone.”
Arjun smiled emotionally. “Really?”
“No. I was checking if you were listening.” 😂
He stared at her. “I married a monster.”
“And the monster is hungry. Make me Maggi.”
“Why me?”
“Because you love me.”
Twenty minutes later, Arjun proudly presented a bowl of Maggi.
Riya took one bite and looked at him suspiciously.
“Why is it so spicy?”
“Because our love is passionate.”
“Then why is there no salt?”
“Because marriage teaches you patience.”
She burst out laughing. “You're lucky you're cute.”
Arjun sat beside her, stole a forkful of Maggi, and grinned.
“Give me a kiss.”
“Why?”
“For cooking.”
“You burned the onions yesterday.”
“That was yesterday's issue. Today, I'm a chef.”
She leaned over and kissed his cheek.
He pointed to his other cheek. “This one is feeling neglected.”
She kissed that one too.
“Now my lips are feeling neglected,” he whispered mischievously.
Riya rolled her eyes, but her smile gave her away. She kissed him softly, and he wrapped an arm around her waist.
Just then, his phone rang.
It was his mother.
Arjun answered immediately. “Hello, Mom!”
His mother asked, “What are you doing?”
“Nothing, Mom. Just eating Maggi.”
Riya whispered loudly, “AND ROMANCING YOUR WIFE!”
Silence.
Then his mother laughed. “Good! At least one of you is doing something productive. Now tell her to make dinner.”
The call ended.
Riya slowly turned toward Arjun.
“Your mother just gave you a mission.”
Arjun looked horrified. “Baby, please. Our love deserves better than this.”
“Fine. You wash the dishes, and I'll make dinner.”
He hugged her dramatically. “This is why I married you. You're so understanding.”
She patted his head. “And this is why I married you. You're so easy to control.”
That night, they cooked together, argued over the amount of salt, ate dinner sitting on the kitchen counter, and laughed until their stomachs hurt.
Before sleeping, Arjun pulled her close.
“Are you happy with me?” he asked quietly.
Riya kissed his forehead.
“Yes. Even when you're annoying.”
“Especially when I'm annoying?”
“Don't push your luck.”
He laughed and held her tighter.
And just before falling asleep, she whispered, “Tomorrow, you're making breakfast.”
Arjun closed his eyes.
“I knew romance was too good to be true.” 😂❤️
The happy ending? The next morning, he made her breakfast in bed.
Unfortunately, he forgot the sugar in her tea.
She kissed him anyway. 😘
